In a packed Sala della Passione in the Pinacoteca di Brera, a press presentation was held of White in the city, the project devised by Oikos with art direction by Giulio Capellini for the week of the Salone del Mobile.
Underlying the project is the desire to combine experiments in the world of art, culture and design by choosing one colour – white – as the central theme. The colour of purity and creativity, it’s a combination of all the colours of the spectrum; not just one simple colour, but a universe of colours.
White in the city will bring together some great masters of international architecture, including Daniel Libeskind, Stefano Boeri, Patricia Uquiola, and young talents from the higher education institutions working to give their personal interpretation on the theme of white in five locations: the Pinacoteca di Brera, the Accademia di Brera, the Church of San Carpoforo, Palazzo Cusani and the Class editori loft Botanical Garden.
In the White in the City project, as well as taking on different symbolic values white may be portrayed in various shades and variations of light and texture. It puts aside its seemingly neutral quality to become a conscious choice and be sublimated into a broader philosophy of wellbeing.
